Social Media and Ebooks.

If you have ever written a Novel, short or long, and self published, one of the first things people tell you, is to try Social Media.
Social Media, can be great fun, and then suddenly you realise, especially with Writing Groups of various titles, everyone there, is trying to SELL YOU something.
Very few ordinary individuals actually go on Social Media to find new Books.
If they go on Social Media, it'll be to a Fan Site, of an Author they already know and love.
So, just imagining you can write a book, publish it, and suddenly strangers will buy it, and become your fans, is wildly over optimistic.

Ask yourself.

Who are you?

Do people know who you are?

Do people care who you are?

Is there a reason they would want to buy your book?

Most big and famous Authors, have spent many years, clawing their way up to that position, many new Authors, are backed by multi million dollar advertising campaigns, which, frequently, do not recover their costs.

Very few readers see new Authors work, and those that do, are often of the 'I only download Freebies' persuasion.

Many Social Media outlets, have quite effective 'Gatekeepers' keeping the oustiders out, and their fee paying advertisers prominent.

And as they make their money from Fee Paying Advertisers, that's understandable.

It will be interesting to see how things unfold, as the Social Media outlets, most of whom, do not make money, gradually, feel the Depressions pinch.

And, how many people will try advertising, when their adverts don't work?

Interesting Times ahead for all!
